Step 1: Ready Your Items

Gather and wash your textiles. Make sure they are clean and dry. Most household textiles can be recycled. This includes clothing, linens, and wearable accessories.

What about my fabric scraps or pillow stuffing?

Textile Recycling is a complicated process and items go through a series of sorting channels. Although pillow stuffing and fabric scraps can be recycled, these statistics typically apply to locals that can generate thousands of pounds of materials at a time, all with consistent size and material makeup. Most collectors are unable to accept these items.

Step 2: Select Where to Donate

You have a variety of options to donate your textiles – and it’s often more than you may think!

CTR Donation Bins We have a variety of donation bins in the area, but we’re not the only ones, so we recommend that you check the bin for proper labeling (all bin collectors should follow state and local guidelines to provide clear contact information, non or for profit status, etc.) to ensure your goods are being handled responsibly.

Do you want a CTR bin in your community? Let your community official or local business or organization know about our Bin Partnership Program, and we’d be happy to help.

Local Resale Stores We partner with over 50 local resale stores, purchasing their excess and unsaleable items. The funds they receive from recycling help to sustain their programs right in your community. Ask if your local store recycles with us, and if not, please tell them about our Resale Store Program.

National Resale Stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers/Unique, etc.) sell their excess and unsaleable clothing items to recyclers. They don’t necessarily advertise this practice as they prefer to receive only the highest quality of clothing that they can sell directly in their store for the greatest profit – but they rarely will refuse items, and they typically do not throw them in the trash!

Step 3: Go Donate!

Take your items to your preferred donation location! Your donation helps financially, so choose the organization you’d like to benefit. We also recommend you consider your carbon footprint while donating – the more convenient for you the better for the environment!
